2021 to present – Manager, Operational DER Management teamAustralian Energy Market Operator (AEMO).  Leading AEMO’s work on integration of DER into AEMO’s operational and system security processes. Manager of a team of 9 full time and 2 part time engineers.

2018 to 2021 – Lead – DER Program Operations TeamAustralian Energy Market Operator (AEMO). Establishing AEMO’s work program on operational integration of distributed PV. Hiring and establishing a team of 6 full time and 4 part time staff.

April 2016 to 2018 – Principal – Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO). Leading analysis of the performance of the electricity system to identify future challenges, and promote opportunities for adaptation to current industry changes.

April 2013 to March 2016 – Research Associate  Centre for Energy and Environmental Markets, University of NSW. Research focused on integration of renewable technologies into power grids, with the CSIRO Future Grid cluster project.

2012-13 – Senior Consultant – Strategic Energy Advisory, AECOM. Consulting services in electricity market modelling and analysis.

Jan 2013 – International Research Exchange  National Renewable Energy Laboratory (Colorado).  Research focused on electricity market design to facilitate the integration of renewable generation.

2010 to 2012 – Principal – Renewable Energy and Climate Policy, ROAM Consulting
Led electricity market analysis and modelling studies for clients, examining the integration of renewable generation into power systems and the impacts of climate policy.

July to December 2009 – Policy analyst and UNFCCC advisor – Government of the Solomon Islands.  Analysis of international climate policy, and advised the representatives of the Solomon Islands negotiating at United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) meetings.

2007 to 2009 – Senior Analyst  ROAM Consulting.  Electricity market analysis and modelling studies.

2004 to 2007 – PhD Researcher – University of Queensland.  Melanin biophysics.
